South Side Street Cars As some of you already know, Todd and I (Beckie) with the blue and purple blown cuda, have taken over South Side Street Cars. We would just like to say Hi and let people know what is going on. There is a lot of you that we don't know, so please feel free to come over and introduce yourselves. Also, when you see Rick, make sure you thank him for the time he has spent on the club. South Side Street Cars is up to 198 members at this time, however, the club's finances are not holding up so well ($168), most of the money has gone to printing costs. Craig Blackburn is still writing newsletters, and Jamie Wolcott is printing them. THIS IS YOUR CLUB, so we need your input on which direction you want to go with it. At this rate that which the club is losing money, South Side Street Cars will be broke in less than a year. So we must come up with some ideas on how to keep this club running. Post your ideas on the South Side Street Cars site, or the Go fast site, or talk to Todd or I at the lot, C's or e-mail us at: cuda440@iserv.net. This is a GREAT CLUB with GREAT members, lets keep it going. After we get a list of ideas, maybe we can put a poll up on the site for you to vote on what to try (Dick or Jason?) DO NOT TAKE THIS MESSAGE TOO LIGHTLY, we need to do something. We would also like to thank everyone else that has helped with the club (sorry, but I don't know all of you, so I will not try to make a list, because I don't want to leave anyone out.) If you let us know who you are, we will make sure you get the recognition you deserve.
Thank you, Todd and Beckie Ensing.
We need to welcome two new members: Andy Leslie with a 1967 GTX, 197 Charger, 1969 Nova, and a 1970 Roadrunner. Also new member Ryan Nelson with a 1968 Camaro SS.
The canoe trip was a lot of fun. We had a group of 22 people that went. Even though the weather was a little cold, we still managed to get everyone wet, with the super soakers everyone brought. The five canoes that were in back were ambushed by the 6 canoes in front. We waited till all five of us were together to go in at once instead of two at a time. We all were SOAKED. After the trip, which took about two hours, we had potluck in the park. Jason brought out the "tunes". By the way Jason was the only one that fell in, and that was when he stood up to get out of the canoe. Next year maybe more can come. Todd and I have not been in a canoe in 7 years, and that trip was a really bad experience and this was the first time back. We were a little nervous on how we would get a long, (we even teased we would be canoeing on Saturday and in divorce court on Sunday.) Thank goodness this trip was a lot more fun. Thanks to Beezer who set everything up for us to go. GREAT NEWS!!!!!!! Negotiations are underway to rent the track at Mid Michigan next year for a one day South Side Street Cars fun day. It could be a test and tune, prearranged drag races, or we could even set up our own event. In addition it could be our annual picnic with everyone bringing a dish to pass, and fun for the whole family. Nothing is finalized at this point, and it takes some serious cash to make this happen, so it is important that everyone start planning for it now and let us know who is interested in going so we can make a final decision this year to book the event next year. Remember, if this happens it will be our major event of the year, and the coolest thing we have ever done. Lets get everyone involved, even if you never had your car to the strip this would be the perfect opportunity to try it. If you need a little coaching, you will be surrounded by your friends, any of which would be happy to help. LET US HEAR FROM YOU.
Mike Tafil won the pro street King of the Hill event at Stanton a few weeks ago in his Camaro. A major accomplishment, congratulations Mike.
Heath’s car is back on the road after his mishap last month, and I must say it is looking better than ever. __________________________________________________________ On July 8th, we had a "first". We had a barbecue at the lot. Chef Beezer did the cooking and everyone else brought food or drinks to pass, and we had a ball. This was the night that Lansing was coming to town, which they did, and we put on a feed for them. Even though the weather was threatening everyone ignored it and the party went on. It was super cool, and everyone involved should be proud of the outcome.
